Videos come as progressive MP4 in every resolution the original upload offers — typically 1080p, 720p and 480p. Audio is delivered from the source track, and images are saved as JPG, PNG or WebP in their original dimensions.

Why do I see fewer qualities on some posts?

Threads only generates the renditions it needs. A post uploaded at 640×360 will never have a 1080p version, so the selector shows only what genuinely exists.
